The Stems PYO Guide
Everything you need to know before you arrive at the flower farm!
1. Book your spot online
To keep the farm peaceful and ensure there are enough blooms for everyone, all visits are by appointment only. We cannot accommodate walk-ins.
-
Payment is required at the time of booking via our website.
-
Bookings close 12 hours before each PYO session.
-
Please double-check your contact details to ensure you receive your booking confirmation and arrival instructions.
2. Arrival & check in
Take care when arriving in the shared driveway. Walk back up the driveway toward the flower farm. Check in at the flower shed and we will provide you with flower snips and a harvest vessel. We will ask you to read the Health & Safety board before you begin.
3. Cutting & care
-
Supervise little florists: children are welcome! However, they must be supervised at all times to ensure their safety and the health of our flowers.
-
Follow the field rules: please stay on the paths and only cut from designated "open" rows.
-
The farm is pram-friendly, but please be mindful of slightly uneven ground.
-
Always leave at least a few inches of stem on the plant to encourage regrowth.
-
Pick only what you love: once a flower is cut, it’s yours! Please avoid "testing" stems and leaving them on the ground.
-
Respect the "closed" rows: some flower beds may be roped off to allow them to rest or grow. Please only harvest from the designated "open" rows.
4. Nature & the elements
-
Bees & allergies: our field is a living ecosystem. Bees and other insects are present and hard at work. If you have known allergies, please bring your necessary medication.
-
Weather: PYO goes ahead in most weather conditions. In the event of severe weather or unforeseen circumstances, we will contact you as soon as possible to reschedule. In light rain, bring a raincoat!
5. Changes & cancellations
We know life happens! You can cancel or reschedule your PYO booking up to 24 hours in advance.
Please note: because our sessions are strictly limited, cancellations or changes made less than 24 hours before your session are non-refundable.
6. What to bring
-
Flat, closed-toe shoes: the ground can be uneven and grass is often damp in the mornings.
-
Sun protection: a hat and sunscreen are highly recommended.
-
A clear space in the car: to ensure your blooms make it home upright! A bucket to prevent spillages or your blooms tipping over in your car is also recommended.
